6 Best Moments at the Social Media Lounge During the Equip Expo

November 11, 2022

Summary

Whether you follow ECHO Means Business on Facebook or Instagram or our User Advisory Group (UAG) 2022 members on their social media accounts, you probably saw hundreds of photos and videos about last month's Equip Expo.

The Equip Expo is the largest tradeshow in our industry. As their organizers put it, "it is the place for landscape contractors, outdoor power equipment dealers, distributors, and manufacturers to connect, learn, and grow."

ECHO Means Business, once again, hosted the Social Media Lounge, a space destined for networking with other pros, meeting other members from the EMB community, taking a load off, kicking back and relaxing. In this list, we picked our favorite moments from this year's show.

1. Reuniting with the UAG and EMB Community Members

It's been a while since the ECHO Means Business UAG (User Advisory Group) got together for the last time at ECHO's HQ in Lake Zurich, IL. For this reason, it was wonderful to see them, their families and their teammates again. The Social Media Lounge became the best spot to gather and spend time together. Same with other EMB members, who engaged with each other and participated in different contests to win amazing prizes.

3. Live Interviews

The live interviews gave UAG members an opportunity to discuss different industry topics was definitely a highlight. Some of the conversations included: "Battery-Powered Equipment: Is it worth it?", "Woman in the Industry," "Managing your landscaping company as a solo operator," and "Catching up with industry pros."

Wayne Thomsen, VP of Marketing & Product Management at ECHO, talked about current industry trends and innovations, and Kris Kiser, President and CEO of OPEI (Equip Expo's organizers) discussed what was new at the Expo this year and what’s coming in 2023. Make sure to visit EMB.com and the app regularly to find the full interviews.

4. UAG Lunch Hosted by ECHO

ECHO treated our User Advisory Group (UAG) with a delicious lunch on Thursday, the second day of the Expo. During this private event, all UAG members and friends had lunch with ECHO's Product Managers and had the chance to ask questions about their products.

Not sure what the UAG is? The User Advisory Group (UAG) is a 100% volunteer group of landscapers, arborists and other ground maintenance pros who dedicate time to sharing their professional experiences starting, building, and managing their businesses with other pros. Learn more about them here.

5. Content Creation

The Social Media Lounge was a great spot for content creation. Lawn care pros such as Naylor, a.k.a. Lawn Care Rookie (pictured below), took advantage of this space for shooting videos, taking pictures, recording podcasts and working on their content.

EMB's lounge provided spacious accommodation with tables, chairs, couches and power outlets to make it easier for landscaping pros to create content. Make sure to visit it next year for this purpose!

6. Networking

One of the objectives of the Social Media Lounge is to gather landscaping professionals to get to know each other, connect, engage and help each other grow their businesses. Seeing how many business owners and professionals from different parts of the country got together to network at the lounge was fantastic.
