Business Owners & Managers

The 2017 Green Industry Expo (GIE) happened recently in Louisville, Kentucky with people coming from all over the nation to meet each other and an ever growing list of lawn care, arbor, and grounds maintenance equipment suppliers. We were happy to see international attendees this year from countries like Argentina, Mexico and Canada.

That said, many did not travel to the show so we’ve compiled a few videos that showcase the GIE experience from the perspective of attendees so you can all get a sense of what you missed if you didn’t attend.

One of the most popular areas of the show was the outdoor exhibits where attendees got the chance to try a slew of products from chain saws to bulldozers. One of our UAG Members, Delbert Powell of Del’s Lawn Care and his boys, spent some time at the outdoor ECHO booth earning their stripes by testing the blowers and chain saws.

And of course, no GIE show is complete without racing a ride-on mower through an obstacle course! There were many opportunities to have fun while trying various tools. Delbert also shared the following recap:

Another UAG member, Brian Fullerton of Brian’s Lawn Maintenance filmed this entertaining "Day In The Life" video after a six hour drive to Louisville. It’s a good summary of Day 1.

After a hike to the event the next day, Brian showed off the "Adult Candy Store," as he called it. Big toys for big boys! Watch for the many cameos in this video.

If trailer racks are more your thing, Wally Wood of Beach River Landscapes is your guy. In this video he shares his excitement over some of the new trailer racks for the pros he discovered (once he figured out how to use his camera that is).

P.S. Wally, we agree with your wife. Keep the hat off!

Another popular booth featured a ride on mower with a Gatling gun mounted on, you know, just for fun. Richey Plemons of Plemons Lawn and Landscaping, after some muffler issues on route,  includes some great footage of that in his GIE review post.

Of course, it wasn’t all business, there was a GIE Rally at the Mega Cavern in Louisville. This former limestone mine is now a meeting place and hosts other businesses. Sean Spencer of Spencer Lawn uploaded this video of the gathering of landscape and lawn care professionals. Again, watch for all the cameos in this video.

If you’re a lawn care, landscape or hardscape pro, we recommend you make plans to attend the GIE + Expo in 2018. As you can tell, you'll see the latest and greatest tools and products for our industry. If you can’t make it, rest assured that the UAG guys will capture highlights!

If you do plan to attend the event next year, Stan "Dirtmonkey" Genadek provided this video featuring the top 5 things to do at this year’s GIE. It’s a good reference for those of you thinking about next year! Check it out.

Thanks to all the pros who put together these videos.
