1 Big Reason to Accept Credit Card Payments For Your Lawn Care Business

December 21, 2017

There’s a bit of discussion at the minute on whether accepting credit cards for your lawn care business is worth it or not.

On the one hand, you have the flexibility of additional payment options and not having to worry about getting a check deposited in your bank account.

On the other hand, a lot of business owners are looking at the extra cost (interest rates, fees, etc.) and whether that’s worth the hit to the pocket.

But here’s the thing – it’s not about what’s easier for you, it’s about what’s easier for your customers. Think about it:

  • When you last bought something online, did you use a check or a credit card?

  • When you went out for dinner, did you pay cash or credit card?

  • When you bought new equipment for your business, did you use cash or credit card?

Whether we like it or not, credit card is the most popular and convenient way to pay, so if you’re not offering that option, then you’re potentially missing out on some serious revenue.

I know a lot of my own jobs come from online inquiries and bookings, and when a potential customer sees they can pay online with a credit card, it makes confirming a booking so much easier.

And the added bonus?

There are a whole bunch of apps that you can use to take credit card payments with your phone, so when you’re out on a job you don’t have to worry about your customer having your money ready for you at the end of the project.

One final point – if you’re still unsure about using credit card as a payment option for your lawn care business because of the “added cost”, why not just pass it on to the customer as part of your bid?

Trust me, the convenience they enjoy at being able to pay by credit card is reason enough for them to be okay with a little bit extra on their job quote.

Easier payments; peace of mind; convenience all round; secure. I haven’t looked back since starting to accept credit card payments – you won’t either.
