Women in the Industry - Eva Montane

"Do what you love and the money will follow"

Although never having read the book of the same title when she first heard the quote, Eva Montane, our second featured Women in the Industry, knew that she'd found her mantra. With a strong support network behind her, Eva has forged a path to build an impressive resume and recognition for her work.

Both at ECHO Means Business and other sites, we often see a tremendous amount of activity from male landscapers, but not so much women professionals. Do you think this can be changed?

What was your inspiration to get into the landscaping business, and did you initially have any thoughts about the role of gender in the industry?

Did you experience any bias against women landscapers when you were starting out?

Have you ever experienced a difficult client who was not open to working with a female landscaper?

Why do you think people are still surprised to see female landscapers, despite a large number of female graduates from landscape architecture courses?

How can a landscaping company better prepare itself to hiring female landscapers?

Do you think the culture of women empowering movements of the last few years has had an impact on the landscaping industry?

What advice would you give young women who are interested in entering the landscaping business?

Are you (or do you know) a woman professional in the lawn care and landscaping industry, or know a women-owned business? We'd love to hear your story - you can share it with us by using the "Tell Us Your Story" section at the bottom of our home page.
