YouTube Weekly Round-Up

What’s up, pros! With new YouTube videos ranging from landscape design, cleaning up pine needles, restoring lawns, and more, it’s time to welcome another summer season and the jobs that come with it. Enjoy this week’s video selection!

Replacing Dead Plants With New Trees

You know it’s going to be a beautiful yard makeover when you see a truckload of windmill palms, Japanese maples, and daylilies. UAG member Blake Hawthorn of It's HIS turf shares a commercial job, where a lot of dead plants needed to be replaced. His team installs trees and uses Yanmar ViO17, a small compact excavator, for digging big root balls for the trees.

Elephants Trunk 2 Test

UAG Council Member Bradley Behr of Copper Creek Cuts tests out the Elephants Trunk 2, a wearable harness that transfers the weight of the equipment you hold to your back, instead of your arms and shoulders. Watch Brad’s review and see why he calls a harness “a neat idea that is executed tremendously well.”

How To Reduce A Conifer Hedge With A Chainsaw

Ever wondered how to reduce a conifer hedge with a chainsaw? Here’s a great video tutorial by Calvin Thomas from the UK. Calvin shares the method that he’s found to work the best: he cuts a line across the front and then works in with a Husqvarna T525 chainsaw.

Cleaning up pine needles with the ECHO PB8010

Evergreen pine trees can be quite beautiful, but they also shed their pines like crazy. We all know just how difficult the pines can be to get out, and that’s exactly why the video by Scott of Red Rock Maintenance is so satisfying to watch. Check out Scott cleaning up pine needles with his ECHO PB8010.

Lawn, Tree and Shrub Restoration Challenges

Sometimes what your client’s house is built upon is a contributing factor to the challenges ahead of you. Paul of Greene County Fertilizer Company shares his lawn’s history - not only it used to be a part of a gigantic tree farm, but it also has two different turf types in one lawn. In this video, Paul goes over all of those factors and what he is doing to take care of them.
