Designing your own planting container is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Today we’ll be showing you our pro tips on how you can create a beautiful planting container, following a couple of simple steps and one basic rule.

The first step is to pick out your container, which will determine the plant sizes that you need, as well as the location of the planter. Next, you should figure out the angles from which your planting container will be seen--this determines the placement of your plants.

Then, it’s time for the fun part: Choosing your plants!

When picking out your plants, we recommend you follow our golden rule: Always try to have a thriller, a filler, and a spiller.

What do we mean by this?

thriller is a plant that will stand out and make your planting container eye-catching. These plants usually stand a little taller than the rest that are in the container.

filler, on the other hand, just serves to fill out the space in the container so that there are no blank spots. These can be smaller plants that will complement your thriller plant.

Lastly, the spiller is a plant that will flow over the edge of the planting container. Vines are a great example of this.
