In this video

  • Specs of ECHO and Scotts lawn spreaders

  • Pros and cons of these two models

  • What spreader do I recommend after using them

The spreaders market is packed with different options, features and functionalities. Those who are starting in this business can find it confusing. For this reason, today I want to share my opinion about two very popular spreaders.

In this spreaders comparison video, I review the Scotts’ Speedy Green 1000 spreader and the ECHO R-60 spreader I focused on the materials from which they are made, their sturdiness, and their performance.

Watch the full video to see what I like and dislike about the two models, what I would recommend you buy, and see me putting the ECHO R-60 spreader in action.

Hi guys, Craig, Clean Cut Yards. Today we're going to talk about what we upgraded from — the Scotts spreader to the ECHO spreader.

Two things we liked about the Scotts spreader:

A) It's super lightweight, easy to travel around with, just throw it in the back of the pickup truck.

B) It's fairly inexpensive, so it didn't cost too much up front, and we paid for it in our very first job.

Some of the things we don't like about the Scotts spreader:

A) It is a little too lightweight — it's not that sturdy.

B) These plastic wheels will definitely beat you up. If you're on big lots or anything that's uneven, it's fairly rough terrain out there with the plastic wheels.

There's a lot to love about the ECHO RB-60. It's heavy-duty. It's not the lightest thing in the world, so it's a little more difficult to lift onto the back of the truck than the Scotts spreader would be, but it's not so difficult that one person can't do it by themselves. It's got some great handles, everything's very smooth on it. The settings on the back are incredibly easy to read — incredibly easy to work with.

And the best thing about this is the 10-inch pneumatic tires. These make for a very smooth ride compared to the plastic wheels of most other spreaders. The lot here is fairly uneven, and I don't even notice it anymore with the ECHO spreader.

We're going to lay down some nitrogen fertilizer today, so we're going to show you how easy the setting is. We're going to set it at seven — so we just push down, slide over, and we're set.

One of the nice things about the ECHO RB-60 is the side deflector here. So we can set it up if we want to go all the way across — 8-foot spread — or we can drop it down if we're running along the sidewalk or the fence line.

Some of the things that stand out on the RB-60 are:

  • The 60-pound hopper
  • The side deflector
  • The 10-inch pneumatic tires, which are really nice
  • It's very heavy-duty, yet super simple to assemble
  • It weighs only 23 pounds, so it's fairly light and easy to lift up into the back of the truck
  • And it comes with a 90-day / 5-year warranty

If you're still running a small lightweight spreader with plastic wheels, I highly recommend investing in the RB-60. It was the perfect upgrade for us.

Thanks for watching this video on the ECHO Means Business platform. You guys have a great one. Bye.
