Testing the ECHO SRM-3020T Trimmer in Thick Brush and Weeds

November 9, 2018

When it comes to putting a trimmer through its paces, there's nothing quite like thick brush and weeds. And that's exactly what I did with the new ECHO SRM-3020T trimmer.

Note to self: always wear PPE when demoing. :)

I also wanted to share some of the numbers behind this new trimmer, and how it compares to some other trimmers on the market.

As you can see by the video, even just using the 105 line made pretty quick work of the brush and weeds we were dealing with — you can imagine how much more it would do if you attached the brush attachment and/or blade!

I hope you enjoy this video, and happy trimming!

Alright guys, so today we're going to tell you a little bit about the 3020T, the newest released trimmer from ECHO, and tell you about the CCs, the power of this thing.

The first thing a lot of people are going to notice—and really enjoy—is that instead of a 16-inch swath or 16.5" like Stihl has, ECHO usually comes with a 17. This one has the Speed-Feed 450 on it, which not only holds a lot more line (you can put .105 in there as well), but it also has a 20-inch swath. You’re looking at a 4-layer flex cable inside for less vibration, and it’s got ECHO’s biggest engine—the 30.5cc engine.

We're going to start it up and, at 13.9 pounds with the guard on, it really doesn't feel that heavy. Take the guard off and you're down to about 12.3 pounds. So we took it back into a fenced-in area and put it to the real test. Now I think we're out of line, but I just wanted to show y'all what this thing was doing and what it was taking care of. Chad, you've been using the 2620—can you tell the difference between it and the 3020T? All brush. That's real thick stuff, and for a trimmer to be going through that is crazy. This stuff is pretty much as tall as he is out there. I mean, it's slicing and dicing right through it—just look at this stuff next to my finger, that's some tough material. We’ve got most of it done, at least halfway, and need to clean up a little more, but way better than it was. Just wanted to show y’all the 3020T and what it's capable of—some live action footage of it tearing through some real thick, deep stuff—and it’s just a trimmer!

You can buy the brush cutter attachment for this and the blade that fits the 2620—it works on this too. Throw on a brush cutter blade and it’ll probably slice through this like nothing. We just wanted to show you the trimmer and what it's capable of.

Alright guys, what do you think about the 3020T trimmer? Leave your comment down below. Is this something you'd be happy with? Something you might upgrade to from your ECHO 222, 2620, 2530, or 280? This thing has a lot of power, and you can definitely tell the difference between it and the 2620T—and by no means is the 2620T a slouch. It's definitely a great tool. Here's the brush cutter attachment you can get—it comes with a universal debris shield kit, strap, and this cool blade right here. It’s an 82 arborist, 20mm—their top-of-the-line one—and it looks like it'll cut through some serious stuff. Oh yeah, that’s sharp, just like a circular saw blade.

Alright guys, leave your comments below, let us know what you think, and we’ll see you in the next one.
